About

Sylvain Cachard is a professional mountain and trail runner from France. Since 2020, he has been among the top athletes in the sport and has already made a name for himself as the European Mountain Running Champion and the French record holder at the legendary Sierre-Zinal. His hometown of Grenoble provides the perfect terrain for his training.

His athletic journey began early: as a child, Sylvain was always active outdoors, usually with his younger brother Benoît. His first race experience came at the age of 9 in a multi-sport adventure race, which combined mountain biking, trail running, river crossings, and orienteering.

His passion for sports was deeply influenced by his family and childhood experiences. At the same time, he developed a strong ambition and the drive to always give his best.

For Sylvain, trail running is above all freedom. All you need is a pair of running shoes, a shirt, and shorts – and you can spend hours exploring the mountains. But for him, the sport is more than just running it is a form of self-expression, a way to push his physical and mental limits, and an opportunity to spend valuable time with his family, his girlfriend, and his friends – who almost all share the same passion.

Sylvain sees trail running evolving rapidly as a sport. While he finds this growth exciting, as it strengthens competition at the highest level, he also emphasizes that this development must be managed responsibly – particularly in terms of the environmental impact caused by numerous races and the extensive travel of elite athletes.

His biggest dream? To be happy. If he had to choose between lifelong happiness or winning all the major races, he would choose happiness without hesitation. However, to truly be happy, he needs the challenge of pushing his limits, understanding his body perfectly, and maintaining full control over his physical and mental responses.

That’s why he has set clear goals as an athlete: to become a world champion in trail running or to one day win the UTMB.
