About

Damien Lacaze hails from the French Pyrenees and is a professional paraglider pilot. Through his father, who worked as a mountain guide, Damien discovered his passion for mountaineering and climbing before taking up flying at the age of 22. According to the Frenchman, the special thing about his sport is that he can simply fly.

Especially in hike & fly, Damien has already made a name for himself. "In the air, I try to fly as long as possible, but in competition, we sometimes cover longer distances on foot, especially in bad weather. In the last edition of the prestigious Red Bull X-Alps, he finished in 2nd place.

"Hike & Fly is a very comprehensive discipline that requires many different skills: physical fitness, flying technique, weather forecasting and quick decisions," Damien explains in the interview.
For the future development of his sport, Damien wishes above all for more media presence and thus more enthusiasm in society.
